Discover the incredible journey of Sophie Preston-Hall, who defied all odds to build Catering Elite into an award-winning hospitality recruitment agency, earning them a well-deserved place as finalists at the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Sophie Preston-Hall founded Catering Elite, an award-winning hospitality recruitment agency, in 2002 with just £300 and a wealth of ambition. Despite facing immense challenges, including recovering from a broken back and navigating a global recession, Sophie has spent the last 21 years building her company into a powerhouse in the catering and hospitality recruitment sector.
Sophie left school at 16 with no qualifications but found her calling working in the office of a recruitment agency. She decided to start her own agency, Catering Elite, dedicated to the hospitality industry, an area she knew well from years of experience. Her goal was simple: provide the best service to clients and candidates by leveraging her extensive industry knowledge. Over two decades, Sophie has achieved that goal and more, establishing Catering Elite as a leader known for high standards and superior service.
Sophie cites her proudest achievement as building a successful company that has withstood the test of time. Through recessions, health issues, and a pandemic, Catering Elite has not just survived but thrived. Looking ahead, Sophie wants to continue providing the best experience for her clients and candidates. She also hopes to launch a training program for entry-level hospitality staff to help young people develop confidence and skills to start their careers.
As finalists in the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards, considered “The Grammys of Entrepreneurship,” Sophie and her team at Catering Elite have been recognized for their remarkable success and resilience.
