From adversity to triumph, Michelle Niziol’s journey to property success is a testament to resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, making her a standout finalist at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2023.
Michelle Niziol is the inspirational founder of IMS Property Group, a multi-award-winning property solutions company based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. At just 17, Michelle’s family faced losing their home, forcing her to drop out of school to work three jobs and support her younger sister. This formative experience ignited Michelle’s entrepreneurial spirit and determination to build financial security through property.
In 2008, Michelle established IMS Property Group to provide clients a complete property service, from residential lettings and estate agency to property refurbishment, development and finance. Over the last 13 years, Michelle has grown the company into a hugely successful business, overcoming major events like the financial crisis, Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic. From humble beginnings as a one-woman show, IMS Property Group now employs six full-time staff and several freelancers. The company recently acquired its first Airbnb property, achieving 80% occupancy in its first year.
Michelle’s tenacity and vision have been recognised through numerous accolades. In 2016, she starred on the BBC’s The Apprentice, gaining invaluable experience. She is an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust Women Supporting Women initiative and was named in NatWest’s Top 100 Inspirational Women list for 2021. Michelle is also becoming a sought-after property expert, featuring in major publications like The Express, Daily Mail, Ideal Home and The Times.
Michelle’s mission is to educate clients on how property can provide financial freedom and security, just as it has for her. She has sourced and purchased hundreds of properties for clients, enabling some to retire early. For Michelle, this is her proudest achievement. Looking ahead, Michelle aims to acquire land and build IMS Property Group’s own residential properties to let through their agency. Personally, Michelle wants to become a leading female property entrepreneur and continue building her own portfolio to pass onto her children.
