Discover how Simon Goldthorpe, founder of Boardmann, is disrupting the ironing industry with innovative design, earning a finalist spot at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2023.

Simon Goldthorpe is the pioneering founder of Boardmann, an ironing board company shaking up the industry with its innovative design. Launched in 2020, Boardmann’s ironing boards are designed to iron clothes twice as fast as traditional boards.

Simon came up with the idea for Boardmann while spending hours ironing his shirts each week. He saw an opportunity to reinvent the ironing board and make the tedious task of ironing more efficient. Despite launching during the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain issues, Boardmann has tripled its sales in its first year and continues to grow rapidly.

Boardmann’s biggest achievements to date have been overcoming immense challenges to bring its product to market and the huge success and traction gained in such a short period of time. Simon now has his sights set on expanding Boardmann’s retail partnerships across the UK and entering new global markets to propel further growth.

Simon’s vision and perseverance in the face of a crisis have paid off. He has revolutionised an overlooked household item that has seen little innovation for decades. By redesigning the ironing board from scratch, Simon has saved people countless hours of laborious ironing and built a thriving business.

Boardmann and Simon Goldthorpe have been selected as finalists for the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards, known as “The Grammys of Entrepreneurship”. The awards ceremony will be held on November 20th at London’s Grosvenor House. To learn more about this inspiring entrepreneur and Boardmann’s innovative ironing boards, visit www.boardmann.com.
