Join us on a playful journey with Maggie Chen and Girls in Charge as they strive for greatness at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2023, redefining success through empowerment and closing the gender gap.

Maggie Chen is the inspiring co-founder and CEO of Girls in Charge, an award-winning social enterprise on a mission to empower women through developing entrepreneurial skills. In 2018, Maggie started the company as a university project to support female student entrepreneurs who, like her, often felt isolated in the male-dominated start-up world.

What began as a small student-led initiative has since grown into an international powerhouse. In just four years, Girls in Charge has provided entrepreneurial workshops and networking opportunities to over 5,000 young women across four countries. Their innovative “gamified” workshops use interactive games and play to build confidence and teach key business skills in a fun, engaging way.

Girls in Charge’s impressive growth and social impact haven’t gone unnoticed. They have been recognized by the University of Oxford and Cartier, and have worked with major companies like Fiverr and Flex. However, Maggie remains focused on empowering young women through their Impact Programme. For every corporate workshop they run, Girls in Charge provides a free workshop for young women in need.

“Everything we do centres on impact and that will never change,” says Maggie. “We are now growing our corporate collaborations so that we can expand our social impact.”

Maggie Chen and Girls in Charge are finalists in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2023. As “The Grammys of Entrepreneurship,” the GBEA celebrates the UK’s most inspiring entrepreneurs. On November 20th, Maggie will join other finalists at London’s Grosvenor House to be recognized for her work empowering women worldwide.
