The power of crowds might once more manifest itself if the rumours that one of the most famous football clubs in the world, Manchester United, is rescued from its unpopular American owners.

A spokesman for the Glazer family, owners of Manchester United told BBC Sport tonight that “United is not for sale.”

According to their latest accounts the club has debts of £716.5m and in the shadow of Portsmouth entering administration a group of well heeled financier Man U fans, dubbed the Red Knights, are thought to be preparing a bid.
Things have got so bad at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ that fans opposing the Glazers control over Manchester United have taken to wearing the Green and Gold of Newton Heath, the former name of Manchester United.
Apparently the Red Knights consortium includes a close friend of Sir Alex Ferguson, Jim O’Neill, a senior figure at Goldman Sachs.
Sky News city editor Mark Kleinman, tonight said, “I should caveat all this by saying that the Red Knights campaign is at a very early stage.
