Summerfield came up with the idea for FoodSnapp after noticing friends and family constantly sharing photos of their food and drinks on Facebook and Instagram when eating out. She saw an opportunity to harness this behaviour in a useful way by building an app where people could upload content about restaurants and venues they love, helping others discover new places to eat in the process.
Since launching, FoodSnapp has gone from strength to strength. An upcoming update will allow restaurants, bars and hotels to promote special offers on the app, with £1 from every ad donated to a global food charity. Summerfield hopes this will establish partnerships with companies like OpenTable and TheFork to eventually offer table booking services.
